First of all id like to thank all of you for the opportunity to be here. A lot of my fellow soldiers who have come home havent been able to share their thoughts and feelings. So again I am thankful for the opportunity.
While I was deployed I was fortunate enough to be stationed in Kuwait. Which by and large was a pretty safe place to be. At the same time, I was a truck driver so I was constantly driving on convoys into Iraq. So I guess I got to see the best and worst of both worlds. In Kuwait, the people I met were sincerely thankful to all Americans for coming to their aide during desert storm when Saddam had invaded their tiny country. And when you see the news about Iraq, you see a lot of people saying they could be heading to a civil war largely due to some religious differences. However it doesnt have to be like that. Kuwait for example is also a Muslim country. They also have both Shiites and Sunni. Yet if I were to go up to a Kuwaiti on the street and ask them if they were Sunni or Shiite they would probably be offended. They dont really have any problems with each other. They can be compared to say Baptists and Methodists. Same religion, but a few differences here and there. So there is still hope that Iraq can work out their differences and come to a common ground of understanding. There are just so many problems in Iraq due to mistrust. While Saddam was in power we all know what he did to the Shiites and how he coveted his Sunni people. Now that Saddam is out of the picture, the Shiites are holding mos of the power as the large majority in every main political office and population. The sunni now fear retribution from the Shiites now that they are in power. So they act out on their fears with bombings and terrorism. Which is why we have all the chaos that exists there now. Its really hard for me to say what I think will become of Iraq in the future. I do know that I hope it doesnt take a civil war to work itself out. If that happened id feel like the 2000+ soldiers and countless Iraqis that have been lost would have been in vain.
I am fortunate to have had my prayers answered and come back exactly the way I left both mentally and physically. Far too many soldiers cant say the same. Although Ive had some close calls and actually seen what kind of damage real combat can do, I made it out safe and sound. I really couldnt ask for much more.
There are times when I do wonder what its all for. Is it to free the Iraqis of an oppressive dictator? Okay, weve done that and now Saddam Hussein is on trial. Is it to get justice for the horrendous acts that were done on September 11th? Will that ever really happen? If we find and bring everyone to justice who was involved in any way, will that bring back the lives already lost? Will adding more lives to that list make anyone feel better? Even if Iraq does become a free democratic society that will not bring back a persons lost loved one. Of course, there is always the threat of terrorism, since it only takes one man, woman or even in some cases a child to commit and act of terrorism. Sadly, I just dont see terrorism ever eliminated. Slowed down some and scaled back maybe, but I dont think this war is going to do that to the effect we have been led to believe.
While I am speaking about our country. Maybe instead of spending billions of dollars to help other countries out we should use that money to help our own citizens. Unfortunately, thats not the way the chain works. More people can make money through manufacturing and services provided during a time of war than they can helping fellow Americans help each other. Even though our healthcare problems continue, our homeless population continues to grow, gaps between the upper and lower class widen every year. The environment continues to get worse .We as a whole continue to ignore these problems. Not realizing these problems wont just go away. We should stop relying on others so step up and do something. We need to take actions into our own hands. Its time to stop talking and start doing.
My last thoughts are on war in general. Weve all heard that sometimes you have to fight for peace. If thats truly the case, then when does the war end? When does the peace actually begin?

Universal Health Care Part II
This is my second blog on universal healthcare. It is largely representative of my own opinions but I will also throw in some facts. This is after having seen the movie "Sicko." I will present some of the opposing questions and arguments people have about healthcare provided by the government. I will refute those with my own opinions and other facts I have attained.
People against it, especially politicians, will say that you don't want the government telling you who your doctor is. I have United Healthcare and they already tell me whom my doctor can be when they say who is in my network and who is out of my network. When I had to go to the chiropractor last year they told me there was only one place to go. Yet there was a chiropractor office withing sight of the one I was told to see. But that office was "out of my network." What is the difference between our current system and a government universal healthcare system? Oh yeah, the govt universal system is free. I almost forgot.
Others would say how will we pay for all of this. People against the universal system say our taxes would go through the roof. Our taxes definitely would go up for the first few years while those of us who have neglected our heal for so long begin to go back to doctors, dentists, etc and catch up on our good health. After a few years of this the taxing rates and policy could be scaled back to normal levels. Most people today with employer health insurance pay about 9-10% of their checks anyway. Others pay almost 3% to medicare. Now studies have shown that if a 9% tax were levied on ALL employers, even the ones who don't offer health insurance for their employees, and the medicare tax was paid into the universal healthcare system we would have the funds right there for financing universal healthcare for everyone. This wouldnt punish the rich like some might lead you to believe. Noone would have to give up a few more dollars so that a man, woman or child less well off can have healthcare....oh no...God forbid we do something for those less fortunate. Instead this system would punish those employers who don't offer insurance by them pay the 9% tax anyway. Remember, the employers pay, not the employees.
People say why should I pay for people too lazy to work and get insurance for themselves. Well, in case you didnt know, this might be the land of opportunity but its also the land of the haves and the you cant have any's. Not to mention you are already paying for these people. As Bush so eloquently put it when someone asked him if all children should have free health insurance, "They can go to an emergency room." This is true, they or anyone else in this country, including illegal immigrants can be treated in an emergency room. Who pays for this? You do. The US pays about 60% of healthcare costs already. And look at the horrendous system we have to show for it. I think it's a crying shame about how many of who do have insurance are unsatisfied with it and how much we have to pay for copays and premiums. Yet even with these high prices we pay there are still 45 million people in this country without insurance. Where does all the excess money go? Read on..
We are overcharged for everything in our current medical system. The pill producing companies trick doctors into giving us meds we don't need. They rush drugs into production before adequate testing and put us in jeopardy. These companies charge us about 50% more than they charge the Canadian government for the exact same drugs. Then again, the Canadian citizens don't pay anything anyway. How can our leaders allow this obvious manipulation? Probably because they are in on it. The drug companies and insurance companies lobby them to vote and influence decisions their way. The CEO's get millions and sometimes billions of dollars in salaries. For what? Finding out ways to convince us we are getting value on a pill they made for 10 cents, sold to the doctor for $10 each and they in turn prescribed them to us for $200 a bottle. We must hold our politicians accountable. They got us into this mess many years ago. This isnt a bash on republicans, everyone seems to have a price tag. We cant trust them with our money, how can we trust them with our medicine. At least universal healthcare would stop this idiotic bribery.
What people like me are asking the government to do isnt to spend much more money than it already does. They spend plenty anyway, they just spend it wrong. I am asking you to elect leaders who will spend it wisely on healthcare. A universal healthcare system is better for everyone. This is America for crying out loud. Think of the $600+ billion we have spent on this war. Think of that in real everyday dollars and think of how many lives we could have saved and greatly improved here in the US.
This country has the wealth and technology to make health care a right. Polls have shown a majority of you want universal healthcare over the current system. The problem is getting our elected officials to serve us for a change instead of the corporations who finance their elections. Politicians who say that universal healthcare wont work are ignorant of the fact that it does work well in every advanced country in the world. The ones who say we cant afford it are lying. Honestly, can you afford not to have it? If you are serious about wanting to reduce the costs of healthcare, for yourself and others, you don't try to make the poor pay more money they already don't have. You find a way that works for everyone. You don't let these "trust the free market" drones mislead you about what is best for YOU.
What should you do? Im glad you asked. ...
They are OUR elected officials. We can elect to replace them. Corporate money controls their policies on this issue. They are in almost every commercial break we see on television for almost every channel. That is why you see little of these debates going on in the networks. After all, the commercials pay for the t.v. time we get. But don't forget who rules the airwaves. Thats right...you do, I do, we all do. They are public airwaves. We can tell our elected officials how we feel by contacting them. We can tell the networks also. But one thing is for sure, until we speak up, loud and clear, we will continue to fund our own deathbed.

Universal Health Care Part 1
This is my argument for universal healthcare for each and every American. This is before i see Michael Moore's "Sicko" which i plan on seeing tomorrow. These are the facts as i know them. In this country, unless you are working in a union job, working for the government, or are rich, your health insurance sucks. That is if you have any at all, since 45 million Americans dont as of today. In 1990 only 35 million didnt have any, why the 10 million more in less than 20 years? Our country is being ran more and more by corporate conglomerates. Their job is to make money, not lose money as they often see it when they have to pay for our healthcare costs. Another reason is the ever wideining gap between the richest and the poorest Americans. So if you arent rich, in a union, or if you dont work a government job you probably arent satisfied with the healthcare system.
Look at the elderly who live on fixed incomes and can barely get by as it is, then they have to fork over what little they do have just to pay for medication to live out their remaining years in moderate health. The elderly might not concern most people reading this because we are younger now. So here is something for you, in people ages 18-24 almost 30% of us dont have health insurance. I for one wouldnt have any if i wasnt in school now to still be on my parents insurance. Its not just the unemployed who lack coverage, 66% of people who do work dont have any either. If you are uninsured you are 25% more likely to die early than if you are insured.
Do we have the best healthcare in the world? Well, 28 countries have higher life expectancies for males than the U.S. And for females its even worse, 43 countries have higher life expectancies for you. The World Health Organization rated the US 37th overall. France was ranked 1.
The costs you pay go hand in hand with the rising salaries of the CEO's of your insurance companies. The more they charge you, the bigger pay increases they themselves recieve. American doctors focus more on the treatment of the symptoms than they do prevention of the problem. Thats not entirely their fault, since most Americans that do have insurance can barely afford the premiums for routine office visits that can last 10 minutes or less many times, they just skip them altogether and dont report to anyone for medical care until the problem is much more serious. This of course isnt what doctors are for. They are to help us prevent problems and remaing healthy. Perhaps if people werent intimidated by their insurance companies or others who have no insurance at all could go to the doctor without fear of going broke they could catch their problem in the beginning and get permanent relief.
People talk of Canada's healthcare system. The naysayers say they have to wait in line forever and it takes weeks just to see a doctor. The fact is they see their doctor more frequently than we do. This includes evenings and weekends because their medical personnel are paid more for keeping people healthy. Parish the thought! A doctor is rewarded for keeping you away from the hospital instead of referring you to somone who sells you overpriced drugs and often useless medication until you need more and more and then finally an expensive operation to fix what could have been prevented in the first place. I know about long lines, when i busted my nose open a few years ago i sat in the waiting room for three hours in pain. And dont get me started on the paperwork. Canada spends 11 cents per dollar on paperwork and administration. We in American spend 25 cents on that same paperwork and administration. And have you ever had to deal with insurance companies?!?! Wouldnt it be easier not to?
Think about all of this and your situation. Think back to when you were sick or injured and what you went through. Think about your friends or loved ones who have similar nightmares. Think of someone you know with no insurance and what might happen if they were to be hurt or become seriously ill. Then think about who you want to run the country, not just as president, but your representatives and senators. This needs to be fixed. It has been broken for far too long. Oh yeah, think about the 10 million children who have no insurance at all and what would happen to them if they got hurt or sick. It should make you yourself sick just thinking about this.

If the government says so
Your government has funded a study of Gulf War Syndrome. In this study they have said that there is no Gulf War Syndrome. Here is a sample of the findings-----
U.S. and foreign veterans of the Gulf War do suffer from an array of very real problems, according to the Veterans Administration-sponsored report released Tuesday.
Yet there is no one complex of symptoms to suggest those veterans — nearly 30 percent of all those who served — suffered or still suffer from a single identifiable syndrome.----
Those two statements seem to contradict eachother. The first says they suffer from very real problems, and the second says nearly 30% of all who served in the Gulf War are not suffering from a single syndrom.
So i guess the syndrom was made up. Just as the depleted uranium that caused most of the "very real problems" the soldiers are still dealing with today is make believe too. You dont have to be an educated person to add 1+1 and get the correct answer. Its just common sense. Anyone who tells you different is obviously full of shit. The same goes for this "study". The govt. brought about this study, they funded it..and who does this finding benefit? Yep, easy as 1+1..it benefits the government. The way it works is like this, the soldiers come back with symptoms, they get paid disability money for these symptoms as well as free medical treatment from the VA hospital. The VA is of course federally funded as is the treatment and benefits paid to the soldiers. So when the govt. decides to conduct a study done by the VA it wants "positive" results. The results are as i stated, that Gulf War syndrome does not exist. Now they no longer have to pay the soldiers medical benefits or give them treatment for this "mystery syndrome." Saving the govt. millions of dollars a year. I think its a crime and a shame that prez Bush Sr. sent the soldiers to the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait, get oil rich allies, etc. and now prez Bush jr. is cutting the benefits and medical treatements of those same American soldiers by having this bogus study. You know the phrase, "if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck..." Well this looks and smells like bullshit. So it probably is.

A nation of immigrants
Apparantley there is a problem with illegal immigration in this country. People are sick and tired of illegals crossing over into this country and being given some of the same rights as American citizens. It is estimated that 2-3 million immigrants cross over illegally. Most risk their lives doing this. Hispanics are currently the largest minority population in the country with a 12.5% and blacks making up 12.3%. This is based on the census in 2000 and doesnt count for the illegals. Sounds like it could be a problem.
However, here is another problem, we as Americans dont want to pay $10 for a bag of oranges or strawberries. We dont want to take the dead end low paying jobs that illegals often take just to make it into this country. We have the whole pie and dont want to share any of it at all.
How many people reading this are Alaskan? Hawiian? Native American? If youre not, you are here directly due to immigration or indirectly due to your ancestors immigrating here many years ago.(Not counting the slaves forced here by our founders) And Christopher Columbus didnt discover America, he thought he was in India-which is why he called the native americans, "Indians."
This is a land of opportunity is it not? So why deny others opportunities that you would pass up without even thinking about it, I admit we do need to document everyone living in this country. the real deal with celeb's and charity(and some stuff on the war and our prez)
This blog touches on a few things. Some crazy stuff is in this one, but everyone can find something they would like to know. So here goes it, over the past 3 years over 800,000 people have been charged by Homeland Security in immigration courts for overstaying their visas to national security violations. 12 of those people have actually been charged with crimes relating to terrorism. 12 people have been killed by sharks since 1990 in the US. 16 people died from falling into holes dug in the sand. Beware those sharks and sink holes folks..they'll get ya.
Next up, celebrities who "contribute" to charity, Here are some things that well known celebrities have demanded to have and be paid in order to show up for a charity event. In 2001 Marc Anthony demanded $50,000 to appear at a Heart Fund benefit. Dana Carvey appeared in his place-for free. Ray Charles recieved $75,000 to sing four songs in 2002 for a gala to raise money for developmentally disabled kids. Michael Jackson said in 2006 he planned to keep the publishing rights and the royalties for a never released song for charity dedicated to 9/11. Paris Hilton was paid $200,000 to attend a Caines event last year. "All i had to do was wave," she said. When J-Lo agreed to be in the video "Whats goin on," to raise money for Aids and the United Way, she demanded Evian at room temp, 9 varieties of fruit and a room decked out in white(drapes, couch, flowers, candles, tables). This past April Snoop Dogg was paid $150,000 to perform at a concert for UNICEF for kids in poverty, he almost cancelled when he found out he didnt have an Xbox in his dressing room. This is the crazy type of shit these overpaid motherfuckers think they can get away with. Ill let you decide for yourself.
Now on G.W. Bush, do i like the man? No. Do I hate the man? No. But just read some of his statements over the years.

Here is why i would punch a religious person
In case you were on another planet for the last 4 years, we are a nation at war. Not only in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also with ourselves. Maybe you heard about people protesting the war. Maybe you heard people have been protesting gays. Well, these two types of people converged on a funeral not too long ago. The funeral was for a fallen Marine who died in Iraq. And these religious folks descended upon the funeral holding up signs that read "Thank God for dead soldiers," and "God hates fags." Well that was in 2006, the father has since sued..and won. He won an 11 million dollar settlement.
Those are the facts. These are my opinions, first of all, anyone that disrupts a funeral, of any person should be "handled." And anyone disrupting a soldiers funeral, because they are against the war, dislike homosexuals, or whatever the fuck the reason is needs to be severely beaten. I know that if i had died overseas i would want someone to take care of these disgraceful ingrates. And i KNOW that if i were at a fellow soldiers funeral and saw that madness that i would take those pickett signs, turn that sumbitch sideways and stick it straight up somebody's rectum. I would pummel and person there, man or woman. Pastor or pussy. They all would fall. I would take my chances with the court because i highly doubt i would be convicted. Luckily jurors are smarter than they're given credit for...which is why they rewarded this marines father the money in this case.
